The only thing you need to start your Ditto trial is an email! To get the most out of your trial, we recommend that you or someone in your workspace have a Figma account and a Figma file to connect with Ditto. This way, you’ll be able to import text, link repeated copy, and build out a complete Ditto project.

Although this differs team by team, we typically see roles that edit text, implement text in designs, or manage design/content systems need editor capabilities in Ditto — these are often product designers and writers. Roles adjacent to product and design, such as compliance/legal, leadership, and marketing, can be brought into Ditto as reviewers.

It can be helpful for developers to be in Ditto to manage text IDs, view/copy IDs when implementing mockups, or managing the API key for the Ditto API/CLI. If they're just fetching via the API/CLI, they won't need a seat.

You can cancel your paid plan at any time in the Billing page of your Account Settings. After cancelling, you'll still have access to your paid plan until the end of the last billing period.

You will only use components for product text that is reused across projects – most commonly used for things like CTAs, product names, error messages, legal disclaimers, and other standardized copy. For startups and single-product companies, 100 components should be enough to get started, however larger organizations typically need an expanded library.
